Super Mario Bros has broken its own record, once again becoming the most expensive video game ever sold. Last week, a copy of the 1985 hit sold for $114,000 (£90,453) at an auction in the U.S. (via The Verge).
The new figure has broken the record that Super Mario Bros managed to set last year, when a different copy of the game sold for $100,150 (£79,464).
Sadly, however, the old copy that you might have sitting around isn't likely to raise this kind of money. For one thing, its condition is rated at 9.4 out of 10, with everything sealed in its original packaging. This particular version is also pretty rare thanks to the cardboard tab that would have been used to hang the games on shelves, but was rendered useless by an extra plastic tab. These versions were on sale for only a couple of months, making this edition an interesting outlier. Whether it's 90 grand worth of interesting, however, is a matter of personal opinion.
