The Monster Hunter movie has been delayed to 2021. According to Deadline, the release date has been moved back from early September to the middle of next April.
While Paramount hasn't yet explained the decision to postpone the film, which stars Milla Jovovich, it's fairly clear that the coronavirus pandemic has something to do with it. For one thing, the studio is unlikely to want to compete with A Quiet Place Part II, which saw its release date move from March to September 4 - the same day as Monster Hunter's original release.
Competition aside, however, the pandemic has already had an effect on production schedules across the world - several major projects in the UK have already been put on hold throughout the summer - and Monster Hunter is unlikely to have proved a particular exception.
