Slay The Spire Heads to Mobile, but with "No Anime Mods"

Slay the Spire is easily one of my most-played games of the past few years. First on PC, then Nintendo Switch, I've poured an unholy number of hours into the roguelike deckbuilder since I first got my hands on it in early 2018. And now, I have an excuse to do it all over again, as developer MegaCrit has announced its game is heading to iOS, with an Android version "in the works."

In an announcement early this morning, the team said that the game will arrive on mobile devices "this month," encouraging fans to tune in to the Guerilla Collective show on June 6 for exact details. It'll set you back about £8, which isn't insignificant for a mobile game, but I think is a pretty fair deal, since it'll set you back more than double that on Steam.

MegaCrit says that the mobile port will be the "complete, spire-climbing experience you have already enjoyed on PC." Sadly, the nature of the mobile store means mod support isn't quite as manageable, which means no swapping out the traditional artwork for anime alternatives. Nevertheless, mobile seems a pretty good home for STS, which is a great game in its own right, and should definitely fit the tactile nature of its new platform.
