Detroit: Become Human is Getting the 'Twitch Plays Pokémon' Treatment

By Alistair Jones on at

Twitch Plays Pokémon may not have been the most efficient way to play, but it was certainly an interesting look at what the hivemind could achieve if it put its mind to it. Over the years, the concept has been tweaked, and now French developer Quantic Dream is releasing its own official version of the idea.

To celebrate the arrival of its new Twitch channel, Quantic Dream will be hosting a stream on May 25, with cast members from Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human joining to celebrate their games' second and tenth anniversaries, respectively. During the stream, the devs will also showcase their new toy - Detroit: Community Play.

The new tool is designed as a Twitch extension that will allow viewers to make the choices that shape Detroit: Become Human. There are more than 150 polls that 'players' can choose throughout the game, all appearing at key moments to let them influence the way the streamer plays. A few of the faster choices might not be available to the viewers to make, but otherwise, this seems like a bit of a no-brainer for games that are so dependent on player choice. The introductory stream begins at 19:00 BST on May 25.
