Despite being one of British television's oldest institutions, Doctor Who has remained strangely absent from the world of videogames. In recent months, a few titles have started to make their way onto our monitors, but the pace could be about to start picking up. This morning, the BBC announced a partnership between everyone's favourite Time Lord and Roblox.
The collaboration's highlight is player skins based on the tenth and thirteenth doctors, as portrayed by David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, respectively. Quite what doctors nine, eleven, and twelve have done to upset the Roblox powers-that-be remains unclear, but I'll venture that Moffat's convoluted plot arcs must be to blame. Elsewhere, the partnership features a TARDIS backpack and a weird shoulder-mounted monstrosity.
The BBC's sci-fi flagship has struggled in recent years, with the latest series pulling in disappointing viewing figures. With that in mind, making an effort to appeal to an audience that's both very young and nearly 100 million players strong seems like a good move.
