After six weeks of zero stock availability, the Valve Index VR headset will soon be back on (virtual) shelves. In a tweet last night, Valve confirmed that the headsets will be back on sale early next week.
In the tweet, Valve told customers that the headsets, which have been sold out since mid-January, "will be available for purchase this Monday, March 9th." The developer also messaged users who had expressed an interest in the hardware on Steam. In addition to the original announcement, that message stated that "due to high demand, we expect available stock to sell out on Monday. All purchases beyond this initial quantity will be fulfulled in the order in which they are received, as supplies increase over the coming months."

This particular batch of hardware should, therefore, be in place in time for the release of Half-Life: Alyx later this month, but it's interesting to see Valve setting expectations quite so early. It sounds as though if you want to play the studio's new game on its own headset, you'll need to move very quickly, as it's possible that it could be several weeks before another set of stock becomes available. Alyx can be played via other VR headsets, but it seems as though Valve's efforts are proving more popular than the Rift or the Vive.
