The Uncharted movie appears to not only be getting over its director-related woes, but to be gathering steam. According to Variety, Oscar-nominated actor Antonia Banderas has joined the cast of the film, which recently confirmed its seventh director.
Banderas, who is best known (to my generation at least) for his role as Puss in Boots in Dreamworks' Shrek franchise, joins Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the adaptation of Sony's flagship series, along with Grey's Anatomy's Sophia Ali and Chilling Adeventures of Sabrina's Tati Gabrielle. While Holland and Wahlberg are set to play Nathan Drake at various stages of his life, there's no word on who the three new arrivals will portray.
The new actors are joined by a new director. The project has already struggled through six directors, with the most recent, Bumblebee's Travis Knight, departing in January. Knight has been replaced by Ruben Fleischer, who lead 2018's Venom. With a release date now set for March 5, 2021, the team has less than a year to pull the film together, suggesting that this particular outfit is likely to see the project through to completion.
