The developer of Stardew Valley says he's working on "a couple of new projects" set in the world of the acclaimed farming game. In a tweet this afternoon, Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone told fans that he was developing some new ideas.
Yes, I'm actually working on a couple of new projects. One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game. The other, I'm not 100% sure about the world yet, but it will tie into Stardew Valley in some way

Earlier today, Barone was asked if he was planning to make a new game in the Stardew Valley universe. In response, he told fans that "Yes, I'm actually working on a couple of new projects. One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game." The plans for the other game are not as concrete, as Barone says he's "not 100% sure about the world yet, but it will tie into Stardew Valley in some way."
Given that the most recent update of the farming phenomenon released relatively recently, news that Barone is working on not one, but two new games comes as something of a surprise. Even more interesting is the fact that he's looking to expand upon the world - Stardew Valley exists as something of a microcosm, with little attention paid to the world beyond your farm. Whatever the game might be, however, it's likely still some way away - Barone made the first game almost entirely on his own, and while he does now work with a few more developers, it's likely to take several years before we see the fruits of his labour.
