PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds might have been dethroned by Fortnite, but it’s still one of the most-played games on Steam. Its creator, however, Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown’ Greene, left the Good Ship PUBG earlier this year to form a new division with developer PUBG Corp. Last night, The Game Awards offered an early glimpse at his new project, Prologue.
There’s not too much to go on. A teaser trailer opens to an unrealistically pretty forest in the midst of a thunderstorm. From our first-person perspective, dogs can be heard barking in the distance, while our unfortunate could-be protagonist pants in fear and exhaustion. There’s an obvious survival bent, but according to Forbes, Prologue will be neither a shooter nor a direct follow-up to PUBG.
There’s not a lot of info available on Prologue’s official site either. It offers another look at that storm, and says that the game “is an exploration of new technologies and gameplay. Our aim with this game is to give players unique and memorable experiences, each and every time they play.” Which doesn’t tell us much at all.
