Halo: Reach's Master Chief Collection Debut Had "Nearly 3 Million" Players in its First Week

It looks like the decision to bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC is paying off. According to an announcement from Xbox last night, nearly three million people played Halo: Reach when it joined the MCC on PC and Xbox during its launch week earlier this month.

As well as that impressive player count (bear in mind the Resident Evil 2 remake has only just passed five million players), fans of the series were getting involved elsewhere. Halo: Reach was the most-watched game on Twitch on launch day, with nearly three million hours - or more than 340 years - watched in the first week.

Reach’s success made it the top-selling game on Steam during launch week - the best-ever performance for an Xbox Games Studios title on the platform. Given that it’s still very much early days for the MCC on PC, it’ll be interesting to see how much of an impact the complete collection will have when it eventually drops.
