The Resident Evil 3 Remake is Real, and it Comes with Project Resistance

Capcom has confirmed a remake for Resident Evil 3. Announced during PlayStation's State of Play earlier today, the new game will also include the multiplayer Project Resistance.

In a particularly sneaky move, Sony told viewers that the remake's trailer was a first look at Project Resistance's campaign, before revealing protagonist Jill Valentine. The trailer ended with a tease of Resi 3 bad guy Nemesis.

Rumours about a remaster began circling earlier this year, before the game was all-but confirmed by leaked cover art. Those early rumours had suggested a surprisingly early release date of 2020, but Capcom seem to be striking while the iron's hot, as Resident Evil 3 is currently set to release in April next year.

In a developer message after the broadcast, producers Masachika Kawata and Peter Fabiano said that they hoped fans were pleased with the early release date. That video also showed off a little gameplay footage,  suggesting that the Resident Evil 3 remake will feel familiar to fans of Capcom's previous remake, and offered a little extra context for the game's new character designs.
