Everyone's favourite droid is heading to Star Wars: Battlefront II. In an announcement last night, Dice confirmed that lovable orange ball BB-8 will join the game as a new Resistance hero early next year.
Dice says that BB-8 will bring a "fast-paced playstyle to the roster." Rather than having him wade into battle with a blaster rifle, however, it looks like the astromech droid will play more of a support role - at least, that's what his Dark Side equivalent BB-9E will be doing for the First Order.
The rest of January's update will bring the Capital Supremacy mode to to the new era, with battles taking place on Rey's homeworld of Jakku and a new jungle planet that will debut in The Rise of Skywalker later this month. But if you don't want to wait until the New Year for new stuff, then you're in luck, today's update introduces Battlefront II's new Celebration Edition, which existing players can upgrade to. From December 17, there'll also be a new planet and new units - the Resistance gets Gunners and Spies based on new alien races, while the First Order gets the Infiltrator and the flying Jet Trooper.
