Pokémon Sword and Shield offers a decent encapsulation of British culture, but it misses out one of the nation's proudest traditions - fast food chains that we've imported from America. Thankfully, those chains don't seem to be taking this terrible insult to heart, as McDonalds is returning Pokémon-themed goodies to its Happy Meals in 2020.
According to Nintendo Life, the new toys will arrive on January 2, and you'll be able to pick up two new ones every week until January 28. Strangely enough, however, the collectibles won't be directly tied to the franchise's most recent releases. The chosen monsters come from Gen 1, although there are a couple of Alolan variations thrown in.
In week one, you'll be able to pick up toys based on Magmar and Alolan Sandshrew. They'll be replaced by Ghastly and Alolan Sandshrew in next week, and followed up by Onix and Eevee. In the fourth and final week, the offerings are Pikachu and the ever-fabulous Alolan Meowth.
