Last month, rumours began swirling about a potential remake of Resident Evil 3. Now, those rumours appear to have been confirmed, as cover art for the upcoming game appeared briefly on an official PlayStation assets site.
Spotted by Gamstat (via Nibel) the leaks suggest that there’ll be two versions of the game - a classic edition, and something called ‘Z version’. There’s no word as to what the difference between the two will be, but the latter appears to focus far more on Nemesis than the former, which also features Jill and Carlos on its cover art. Carlos in particular has undergone something of a makeover since his original 90s outing, but Nemesis is looking just as hideous as you remember him.
Gamstat’s leak also confirmed that upcoming co-op offering Project Resistance will henceforth be known as Resident Evil: Resistance, presumably in order to bring it in line with the rest of the brand. Those initial rumours had suggested that Capcom is targeting 2020 for its next remake, but that's a pretty tight turnaround. Take all of this with a pinch of salt for now, but it might be worth looking to The Game Awards later this month for confirmation.
