Fortnite V8.40 Adds Aerial Combat LTM and Custom Scoreboards

By Laura Kate Dale on at

Another week, another update to Fortnite. The ever changing shooter now has a new update live, V8.40, and we've jumped in to let you know about the most interesting updates in the newest patch.

For battle royale players, there's a new Air Royale limited time mode available starting today. The new duos mode brings back the X-4 Stormwing planes, gives each plane three lives, and makes landing or touching the ground a fatality. It's all about aerial combat, and it seems like a fun idea.

The ceiling of the stage lowers over time, and hijacking another plane gets you an extra life, so there's incentive to get right up in the fray.

There's also another limited time mode coming called Food Fight - Deep Fried. Players on two teams build defences to stop lava and other players destroying their restaurant, while trying to take down the other team's base when the lava recedes temporarily.

In other updates, the Infantry Rifle now has Epic and Legendary variants.

Lastly, and clearly the most important update for battle royale mode players, you can now pet dogs and other pets. Who's the best pet? Clearly mine, and they're getting all the fussing.

For creative mode players, you can now customise how the scoreboard looks at the end of a match.

Just in time for Easter, Save the World players can now get the new Bunny Brawler Luna skin.
