While a sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn has not been officially revealed, we all sort of know one is probably in the works. The original game garnered incredibly high review scores, sold impressively well, was a huge technical showcase for the PS4, and was a big name in game of the year discussions during 2017. Still, as much as we might think a sequel is inevitable, it's still exciting to hear talk of a sequel from people who would actually know it was coming.
Actress Janina Gavankar livestreamed herself walking around Star Wars Celebration 2019 on Thursday of last week, and a clip from her livestream caught our attention over the weekend. She voiced a character named Tatai in Horizon Zero Dawn's The Frozen Wilds DLC, and while her role was small it was the kind of role that could easily grow larger in a sequel – a sequel she is apparently already privy to.
"It's incredible. Just wait 'til you see the sequel, you're gonna die. I know some secrets, you're gonna die."
This seems like a pretty clear cut statement: an actress from the original game knows some secrets regarding a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and we're gonna die. Couldn't be much more clear cut than that.
We have reached out to Sony and Guerrilla Games for comment, but we would be highly surprised if we got a response. Whenever a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel gets announced you can bet it'll be on Sony's own terms. Until then, we can hold onto this quote and wait patiently for official word of a sequel to one of this generation's coolest franchises.
