If you, like me, spent a portion of your youth wasting all your pocket money on scraps of shiny paper, you may well have at some point dipped your toes into Yu-Gi-Oh. The subject of an anime series about a pharaoh who saves the world, the trading card game has been running strong for nearly 20 years. Now, you'll be able to play through a bunch of virtual card games on your Switch.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution will allow players to use a selection of more than 9,000 cards from the TCG, while playing through scenes from the anime, and fighting characters from the show. The game will cover everything from the start of the Duel Monsters anime, right up to more modern series Arc-V and VRAINS. You'll also get to play as villains during iconic scenes, which is a nice change of pace for sure.
The game will support local and online battles, more modern mechanics like link summoning, and will even feature modes designed to mimic sealed and draft play formats.
The game is coming this summer as a Switch exclusive. Hopefully that story mode teaches us how to progress from old school Yu-Gi-Oh mechanics up to the new summon types, because while I was once great at this card game, I don't understand how to play anymore and could really use a good interactive tutorial.
