Over this past weekend during BlizzCon, Blizzard announced a new Diablo game, but it wasn't a terribly well-received announcement. Diablo Immortal is a smart phone game, which rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way at an event aimed at Blizzard's most core players.
Diablo Immortal was pitched as a smart phone Diablo MMO, and now thanks to an interview we know the the game will be an exclusively online affair.
According to VG247, Wyatt Cheng, lead game designer on Diablo Immortal, stated in an interview at Blizzcon that the game would be online only.
While the game can be played solo, without interacting with other players, if you try to play offline "the game would not allow you to".
This is a shame, because as any regular commuter knows, not being able to play offline means no playing on the Underground, or being kicked from your game because you went through a tunnel.
