Screw Crash Bandicoot's Temple Ruins Level

By David Meikleham on at

I've been playing Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on PS4 a wee bit this weekend. It looks bloody lovely. So much so, I can more or less forgive the jorts-wearing critter's infuriatingly inconsistent jump.

Well, until I hit the Temple Ruins level that is.

At last count, I'm pretty sure I've died 11 times trying to get this sodding mission checked off. The combination of darkly lit cave, revolving pillars and Crash's jittery jump are sending me wrong behind the eyes.

Of course, if you watch the following run through the dingy level, you'll probably just think I'm crap at games (you may well have a point):

Looks easy, huh? Well, it ain't.

That's what elevates Super Mario 64 above every other 3D platformer ever made (even 21 years on): the rotund plumber's controls never fail you. EVER. If Nintendo remade the 1996 classic for Switch, I think my head would implode from happiness.

How about you guys? Have any of you picked up the N.Sane Trilogy over the weekend? Do you think the bandicoot's gameplay still stands the test of time?
