At a press briefing in Seattle, Valve's Gabe Newell has said that the company is currently working on three virtual reality games. The company's founder also explained why it was making hardware.
"So one of the questions you might ask us is 'Why in the world are we making hardware?'," Newell told Gamasutra. "So right now, we're building 3 VR games. And what we can do now is to be designing hardware at the same time that we're designing software. This is something that Miyamoto has always had, right? [Miyamoto] has had the ability to think about what the input devices & the design of systems should be like while he's trying to design games. Our sense is that that's going to allow us to actually build much better entertainment experiences for people."
While Valve has already made some games for VR, it had a collection of minigames ready for launch called The Lab, these three are said to be larger, fuller experiences. As it's Valve, I can't wait to see what it's been cooking up. Still, why did Newell have to bandy around the number three? I feel like that's only going to stir trouble.
