Update: Star Citizen's Single Player Release Remains Unconfirmed

By Julian Benson on at

Update 07/09: CIG has been in contact to say "Chris spoke to multiple reporters at Gamescom who asked about the status of Squadron 42. We have been feature locked for a while and things are coming along nicely. In every case he told them that we are hard at work on the game and are focused on making it great but no official launch dates were discussed."

Original post: Star Citizen's ambitious single-player campaign, Squadron 42, had been due out by the end of 2016 but, as has often been the case with this project's releases, it has now been delayed and won't be released until at least 2017.

The news comes from an interview with the project's director, Chris Roberts, by German site Gamestar:

In the video, Gamestar editor Michael Graf is discussing Star Citizen's release plans. In a comment under the video Graf clarifies that in his interview with Chris Roberts at Gamescom last month he was told that the game would be out in 2017, not 2016, as previously thought.

If you head to the Squadron 42 page on Star Citizen's website, it still says that the campaign will be out in 2016.
