Microsoft Introduces Xbox Play Anywhere; Bringing PC and Xbox Cross-Play to Gears of War 4

By Matt Wales on at

As part of its E3 Xbox Media Briefing, Microsoft has introduced its new Xbox Play Anywhere initiative. Starting with Gears of War 4, if you buy a participating game on either Xbox One, you'll be able to get the other version for free.

Additionally, your achievements and save games will be shared automatically between versions, which is nothing if not convenient.

Every co-op mode in Gears of War 4 will support cross-play, presumably something we'll see more of as the scheme rolls out further, so Xbox One players can take on PC gamers in horde mode, multiplayer and the game's co-op campaign, and vice versa.
