The Division has sold more copies in its first 24 hours than any other Ubisoft game. Considering Watch Dogs and Far Cry 3 held similar records at launch, you can see why the publisher is moving away from yearly releases and, instead, is leaning more heavily on new game series.
“The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivaled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters," Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO, Ubisoft said in a press release. “This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.”
Ahead of release, Ubisoft laid out the plan for the next year of expansions, but it's still unclear whether it will continue supporting The Division into 2017.
