Diablo 3 on Consoles Has Been Screwed Up By The Latest Patch

Diablo 3's latest patch is its biggest yet – that much we've already established. But it was also met with fan reports that, at least on console, performance has been taking quite a hit post-2.4 update.

The delightful swines from Digital Foundry have taken a close look at the performance of Diablo 3 on PS4 after its 2.4 patch and found that, actually, the players are right – it's a bit broken.

While the game still runs, works and functions, there are performance drops that see the frame rate dropping from the regular 60fps to a three-quarter-paced 40fps, seemingly for little-to-no reason.

This means... well, as DF puts it:

Frame-rate drops aren't the problem alone - but rather, the more jarring aspect is the wildly uneven rate at which frames are arriving to the screen in these big battles. It's this aspect that begins to hamper the reliability of each button press, and knowing when to expect a response on-screen.

When Diablo 3 is working properly, though, we've got you covered. Here's eight cool new things in 2.4, and here's some tips if you're tempted back in by the new patch. Though, naturally, tip one should read 'don't play it on console for the time being'.
