If you haven't ordered the Fallout 4 Collector's Edition that came with its very own Pip-Boy then, I'm afraid, you've missed your chance outside of resale. Bethesda's Pete Hines says that the factory they employed won't make any more.
"We reached a point where we'd go back to the factories and they were like, 'guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make'", Hines told GameSpot.
Apparently he returned to the manufacturer saying, "'Demand for this is insane, we've got to make more,'" Hines said. "And they'd move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], 'Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make', and we sold every single one of those that we could."
Back when the Pip-Boy Edition first went on sale the pre-order system collapsed and then quickly ran out. This is the first time in ages I've heard of a collector's edition being in such high demand. Bethesda hasn't released actual numbers of editions made and sold, though Hines claims it was thousands.
"We made a shitload of Pip-Boys, and we went back and made more, and went back and made more," he said. "I keep seeing stuff about, 'Oh, you only did a few thousand." No – we did a ton of these things. I think we did more of these things than we did for any collector's edition we've ever done, ever."
