HoloLens Won't Immediately be Aimed at Gaming

Microsoft's first release of HoloLens won't be the all-conquering game-changer you might expect it to be. Instead it'll be aimed more at business, or 'enterprise', users.

This from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who revealed the aims for HoloLens to ZDNet, saying:

"For sure in the first version, it's going to be more about developers and enterprise scenarios... With the V.1 of HoloLens, I want us to push a lot more of the enterprise usage."

As he went on to explain, this relates to healthcare uses – in hospitals and so on – as well as in retail and other business-y situations. Everywhere you'd think some futuristic hologram-like tech might come in useful, basically. Nando's? Maybe not. This stuff? Yes.

Fret not though. This is just the initial release of the device, and from what we've played it's already clear that there's a hell of a lot of potential when it comes to HoloLens and gaming.

It'll just take a bit longer to get our Monster- and Doritos-branded versions of the headset.
