Apple Pulls Games Featuring Confederate Flag From its Store

There's been a good deal of controversy surrounding the use of the Confederate battle flag recently. It's an issue way over my pay grade, so I'll leave that intro right there. But what is pertinent to me, you and others on Kotaku is the fact Apple is scooping up a lot of games from the App Store that feature the flag and dumping them... well, not in the App Store.

Even somewhat po-faced, straightforward historical war games like Civil War 1863 and Ultimate General: Gettysburg have felt the blows of Apple's ban-hammer raining down on them.

As reported on Touch Arcade, the reasoning Apple is sending at least some developers for the pulling of their games is "...because it includes images of the confederate flag used in offensive and mean-spirited ways."

Frankly, that's not the case with something like the aforementioned two strategy titles. This looks more like a case of Apple nuking the site from orbit while the controversy is hot.

Hopefully in the not-too-distant future it will be able to look at each individual case on merit, but for now you'll have to look elsewhere for your flags made famous by the KKK.

Ah, crap. That was a bit of editorial comment, wasn't it? My bad.
