The Highest and Lowest Spec Steam Machines

By Leon Hurley on at

£3300 anyone? The new Steam machine page features some pricey rigs, although around £700-£800 seems about the norm, with two options dipping as low as £300. As previously reported, all are currently marked down for a November release date

First up the big hitters: the Falcon Northwest Tiki Steam Machine and ORIGIN OMEGA Steam Machine are both offering $5,000 (£3300) configurations. However, at the other end of the market there's the Alienware Steam Machine (£316) and iBuyPower SBX at $459.99 (approx £300).

All the machines are promoting themselves as highly customisable and are offering a range of options, but the first two seem to be clearly targeting the high end market, while the latter are aiming for affordability. In most cases each machine is promoting what appears to be its 'ideal' config with no further details on any other options mentioned. Of these four only the Alien machine outlines all four available choices.

Here's the highest and lowest ends of the spectrum (all UK prices in brackets and elsewhere are conversions from the US price as guidance, and do not represent the final UK RRP):
