Kaz Hirai Thinks PS4 Can Beat PS2's Sales Record

By Leon Hurley on at

Sony's financials make grim reading this year, with a predicted $1.2 billion loss and a further $500 million forecast for next year (largely from restructuring involved in shutting the PC business). However Sony CEO Kaz Hirai thinks the PS4's going to do big things.

Speaking in a corporate meeting Hirai apparently said, "it is likely that PS4 will become the platform which exceeds the profits earned with PS2". While the chances of PS4 beating PS2's 155 million physical sales are unlikey he apparently stressed both console sales and digital transactions would help push the PS4 ahead. The latter digital retail potential obviously not being available to PS2.
