Of course there are going to be new Titanfalls. It's not like the first didn't sell well and EA do like a sequel. In a recent investor call MP1st reports a "new publishing deal" has been announced with Respawn that would "bring new Titanfall experiences to players worldwide". But on what?
Titanfall Touch iOS? I kid, I kid. It's likely a mutiformat release is next up for the franchise. The permanent Microsoft exclusivity for the first instalment was famously news to Respawn founder Vince Zampella who tweeted: "Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(". He also agreed with a fan tweet that the exclusivity and lack of a PS4 release would hurt the franchise in the long term, replying: "No plans for anything past 1 yet, but I like the way you think =D". Even EA are reported to regret the MS deal after seeing the what-you-could-have-won PS4 numbers.
In the investor call EA CEO Andrew Wilson said: “We’re also excited to announce that EA is continuing its partnership with Vince Zampella and the Respawn Entertainment team, building on our success in delivering Titanfall, the biggest interactive entertainment event of the year so far. Through a new publishing agreement, we’ll be working with Respawn to bring new Titanfall experiences to players worldwide.” He then went on to clarify that this was a new deal, separating it from any upcoming DLC or additional content for the main game.
