Even Sony admit H1Z1's a lot like DayZ. Now you can see how similar the two are with 50 minutes of PS4 gameplay. As well as showing exploration, combat and vehicles in action, at one point the devs stop to build a shed with the crafting system. It's a good shed.
Game designer Jimmy Whisenhunt and technical director Tom Schenck run through a few of the game's features and you can see the crafting around the 29m20s mark - they combine items to create a shed, then a door separately. Building and protecting settlements is apparently one of the core ideas behind the game according to SOE's John Smedley.
