One of the first video games I ever played was The Great Escape (1986). It's nice to see a more modern return to the idea.
Obviously inspired by the same tale/movie, The Breakout is an upcoming adventure game that has you trying to escape from a German POW camp in the second world war.
What I like about it, other than the art style, is the tone. This isn't an adventure game like those you got comfortable with during the 1990s. This sounds like it's more in line with Sierra's output from the 1980s, with fatal consequences for bad decisions and a need for genuine "skills and cunning", as the devs put it. You need to watch guard routines, make friends with other inmates and really prepare for your bust. Get it wrong and you're toast.
You can back the project on Kickstarter.
