Another Unused Bloodborne Boss Design Has Been Uncovered

Over the years since Bloodborne released, enterprising fans of the game with knowledge of coding have dug up character models for a number of enemies that never made it into the final game. YouTuber Lance McDonald has found footage of another unused beast – a boss that looks like a ball of snakes.

The enemy, fittingly titled "Snake Ball" within the game's files, does appear to be exactly what it says on the tin. It has an idle animation and certain combat animations, and is able to strike, whip at the player, and spit poison.

Compared to some unused Bloodborne enemies, this one seems fairly complete, and the above video gives a decent idea of how it would have worked in-game. This enemy was obviously intended at one point for the Forbidden Woods (which in the final game is full of smaller snake balls resembling this one), and aficionadoes will recognise that elements (such as the 'ghost snakes' that appear from the ground) survived in the Shadows of Yharnam boss fight. Given that the snake enemies are one of the least-fun things to fight in the game, it's perhaps no surprise this didn't make the cut, but it's always interesting to see and speculate about what might have been.
