I've been feeling kinda wistful of late. Perhaps it's because I'm now the wrong side of 30, but increasingly, I find myself looking back, rather than forward. As such, I've been thinking a lot about this current console generation, and all the ways it has kicked ass.
Amazing indies, like What Remains of Edith Finch. Triple-A epics with real soul - hey there, Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War! The resurgence of Nintendo as a heavyweight player thanks to the somewhat surprising success of the Switch.
For me, I think my favourite thing about this generation has been the industry's willingness to embrace 4K gaming. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X have finally given me Ultra HD content to enjoy on my 4K TV, and as a mad bastard who is obsessed with resolutions, my obsessive Terminator peepers have been very happy of late.
For my money, Horizon is the best game of the generation.
Indeed, I'm so obsessed with playing games at 4K, I've spent most of the last month replaying old Xbox and Xbox 360 games thanks to recent Xbox One X Ultra HD patches. 4K SSX 3 really is something else.
But what about you lovely creatures? What's been your favourite thing about this current console generation?
