Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare is one of my favourite expansions ever. A wonderfully odd accompaniment to John Marston's melancholy Wild West epic, it sees the charismatic outlaw battling hordes of zombies in a spin-off that has as much in common with Resident Evil 4 as it does The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly.
This week, Red Dead received a free Xbox One X patch which upped the game's resolution to full-fat 4K. The newly pin-sharp results really are stupendous. As part of that same update, Undead Nightmare has also been treated to an Ultra HD makeover, and like its parent game, now runs at 2160p.
The fps wizards over at Digital Foundry have done an analysis of Marston's decomposing DLC, and found that it actually runs significantly smoother than on original Xbox 360 hardware, even though the X is running the game at nine times the resolution.
If you've got a Game of the Year copy of Red Dead Redemption kicking about, and have an Xbox One X and 4K TV, you should stop reading this article right the hell now and start filling those brain-craving cowboys full of lead.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to capture the Four Horses of the Apocalypse and maybe shoot the odd Western sasquatch or two.
