It was a no-brainer given the first game’s success, but Ubisoft is making it official today with the announcement that it is making The Division 2, a sequel to 2016's hit cover-based shooter.

A logo for the sequel appeared on Ubisoft’s servers this morning.

Shortly afterward, users of the Resetera forums spotted a possible press release. If accurate, here is the company providing some basics on who is making the game:

The development is led by Massive Entertainment and driven by close collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest and Ubisoft Shanghai. The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine that will help us realise our ambitions for this title.

The press release also details more updates coming to the original game, including a performance upgrade for the Xbox One X, something fans have been waiting on for months.

we will support the game with 2 more title updates. These will be 2 brand new Global Events; Include more Legendary difficulty missions and an Xbox One X update that will rediscover the beautiful and emblematic New York City with all its stunning details in both 4K and 1080p.

No further word about setting, gameplay or release timing for The Division 2, but we’ll be watching the game’s next community livestream later this morning for more hints and info and to confirm the details above.
