Rocket League Finally Gets The Best Batmobile

By Rich Stanton on at

Rocket League DLC seems to land every other week now, to the extent that I'd kind of stopped tracking it. The latest arrival, however, took me back to a time in life when all I wanted was to see one movie: Tim Burton's Batman. I had a book about the film for ages before I ever saw it, it was an amazing book, and my favourite pages went into enormous detail on the Batmobile.

I know there's some Adam West loyalists out there, and I respect that, but let's get real. The whole look of Burton's film was sensational, a mix of gothic spires and art deco innards designed by one Anton Furst. Furst also came up with the look of the car, a long and sleek reinterpretation of Batman's ride that came with amazing bonus features like a grappling hook (for tight corners!), a shield at rest, and a big ol' afterburner that blasts out fire as it roars off in pursuit of some villain. It's got machine guns in the god damn bonnet! What a car!

Phhwwooooarr, etcetera.

Anyway, now the '89 Batmobile is available to buy in Rocket League. It's a bit pricey for a virtual car at £2.89, but I was powerless to resist Psyonix as it magically removed the funds from my Steam wallet (for some reason it's more expensive on Xbox, at £3.19, and PS4, at £3.29). And for that price you don't just get the main event, but the decent enough Tumbler version of the Batmobile from Christopher Nolan's superb Dark Knight trilogy. Which I will never use. There's a bunch of other incidental stuff I'll list at the end too.

So I know what you're thinking. If you play Rocket League in the '89 Batmobile while listening to the film's amazing Prince soundtrack, is it cool?

Yes. Yes it is cool.

The DC Super Heroes DLC pack is available now on all platforms, and as well as the two Batmobiles includes all this guff:

Aquaman - Decal (Breakout), and Player Banner

Batman - Decal (Paladin), and Player Banner

Cyborg - Decal (Roadhog), and Player Banner

Flash - Speed Force Boost, Wheels, Decal (Venom), and Player Banner

Green Arrow - Decal (Hotshot), and Player Banner

Green Lantern - Decal (Merc), and Player Banner

Superman - Decal (Octane), and Player Banner

Wonder Woman - Wheels, Decal (X-Devil), and Player Banner

DC Comics - Player Banner

Aquaman decals? Water joke! We all know what we're here for, and that is the single greatest realisation of Batman's car in history. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm of a mind to make some mookie.
