If you have an older iOS device, anything up to and including the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPad 4th Gen — basically any iOS device which doesn't have the option of upgrading to iOS 11 — then you're soon going to lose your ability to play Pokémon Go.
The move, which is apparently so that unspecified new features can be implemented for users on newer devices, means that players who do not have an iOS 11-capable device will lose access to the game on 28th February 2018.
These users will lose access to any in-app purchased items, unless they upgrade their hardware.
While we don't yet know what updates the game will receive as a result of this move it is a shame that many younger players, who often inherit their family's second-hand devices, will lose their ability to continue playing. And it certainly isn't nice to see such an enormously successful game happy to cut off users.
