Back in November, it was announced that console versions of Prison Architect would be getting their own unique, separately developed version of Escape Mode as paid DLC in the summer of 2018. The trailer showed off a brief cartoon animation of a prisoner, but gave no details on what the DLC would do differently to the PC mode to justify being sold separately.
Now, thanks to the folks at developer Double Eleven, we know a little more about what the console Escape Mode will consist of.
Escape Mode for Prison Architect: Console Edition puts you in the shoes of a newly incarcerated prisoner trying to climb to the top of the heap in the big house. To do this, you’re going to need to take advantage of the new skill system!
Earn experience points by; taking part in reform programs, digging tunnels, creating a crew or hitting the gym and then plough those points into new skills such as the ability to swim across water, sabotage machinery, pick locks or bribe members of the prison staff. With plenty of skills to choose from, each prison becomes its own puzzle.
It does sound like the console DLC mode is going to be a bit more fleshed out than the mode on PC, which is nice to know. Exactly how many options you'll have for upgrading, and how much variety there will be in obstacles to overcome is unknown, but at least now we have a little more info to work on regarding the mode.
