There had been talk of a film of The Division being in the works but it looks like it's further along than simply spit-balling ideas. Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal have both signed on to star in the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft's plague-ridden shooter.
This isn't the first Ubisoft film for Gyllenhaal, as he was in the (not very well received) Prince of Persia film back in 2010:
Since then, though, the much better looking Assassin's Creed film went into production. That's still not out yet but it does look like it could be something quite good. Maybe a sign that Ubisoft has finally got game films right.
Chastain's best known for Zero Dark Thirty, the film about the hunt of Osama Bin Laden. The role she played in that, as a tough, pragmatic CIA operative could be a good fit for ine of the game's agent.
Ubisoft didn't say when it planned to release The Division, only that the film was still in the early stages of production.
