FIFA 17's cover star is to be decided by a majority public vote, EA has decided, evidently ignoring the warnings of the past few weeks in UK politics.
Still, we can be fairly confident that campaigners for each of the four cover stars will not resort to outright lies and xenophobia-stoking in their efforts to get a favoured sportsperson onto the cover of a video game. The four candidates are: Eden Hazard, who plays for Chelsea, Anthony Martial of Manchester United, Germany's Marco Reus (who plays for Dortmund), and James Rodriguez of Real Madrid.
There's a special website set up for the vote, and participating also earns you in-game rewards. People can't add in their own preferred cover stars, to rest assured that Nigel Farage is not one of the options. Voting runs until July 19th.
