Finally, the PS4 Gets its Media Player

By Julian Benson on at

Until today, if you tried to plug a USB loaded with films into your PS4 then you'd only be met with disappointment. The console simply couldn't play them.

It was a strange absence considering that Microsoft and angled its console at becoming the media centre of your home, a media player at launch would have offered the Xbox One at least some competition on that front.

Well, at Sony's press conference last night, the company finally announced the PS4's media player and it's already available to download.

"The Media Player works with both your home server and when plugging a USB stick with media into one of the available ports on the PS4," say Sony. "Your home server will appear as a media option in the player automatically and finding your media is simple and quick."
