Evolve's Confusing Expansion Continues

By Leon Hurley on at

Evolve hasn't exactly been a clear proposition, with a confusing array of editions and options at launch. Now, there's some DLC on the way which you may or may not own, depending on the version you bought.

All the new content is arriving on on March 31st and includes a new monster, four hunters, two maps and an Observer Mode. Here's what's on the way and how to get it, if you don't already have it.

A new monster

Behemoth is free for those who pre-ordered Evolve from participating retailers as part of the Monster Expansion Pack, and is available separately for £11.99.

The new creature is described as "a tank of a Monster that becomes a giant, destructive boulder and rolls through the environment for quick traversal".

Four new hunters

The four Hunters are available as part of the Evolve Hunting Season Pass along with three Monster skins for £19.99. Each Hunter can also be purchased separately for £6.19.

The Digital Deluxe Edition and PC Master Race Editions both contained the Evolve Hunting Season Pass, so anyone that bought that will already have the new hunters. They are, if you're interested:

  • Torvald, a cyborg Assault character with a mortar cannon for an arm.
  • Crow, a Trapper with a pet Batray for tracking Monsters.
  • Slim, a genetically modified combat Medic.
  • Sunny a Support character equipped with a mininuke grenade launcher.

Two new maps

The Broken Hill Mine and Broken Hill Foundry are definitely free. Everyone gets those. Same for the Observer Mode which lets you watch games with additional information overlaid on the screen.

Everyone will still be able to play together, regardless of the content any individual player owns or uses. The idea being that none of this will divide the community, which is probably for the best.
