UPDATE: One weekend on, it's now at more than $7,500. I am clearly in the wrong business. I'm getting out of games media and into ironically Kickstarting foodstuffs, pronto.
ORIGINAL STORY: Yesterday, someone launched a Kickstarter to make a potato salad, asking for a mere $10. It is currently at $220. People have literally Kickstarted the making of a potato salad.
It's all gone too far.
It is currently well on its way to its next $250 stretch goal ("Better mayonnaise (from the natural foods section"). Pledge $20 or more and you will receive the POTATO MADNESS perk: "Receive a potato-salad themed haiku written by me, your name carved into a potato that will be used in the potato salad, a signed jar of mayonnaise, the potato salad recipe, hang out in the kitchen with me while I make the potato salad, choose a potato-salad-appropriate ingredient to add to the potato salad, receive a bite of the potato salad, a photo of me making the potato salad, a 'thank you' posted to our website and I will say your name out loud while making the potato salad."
This could really blow up. If someone ends up getting paid more than $1000 to make a potato salad I think I'm quitting the Internet.
