David Attenborough's Making a Wildlife Film for Oculus Rift

By Leon Hurley on at

What Conquest of the Skies actually is, is a mystery. All we know is that Attenborough will write and present, and it's coming to Oculus Rift.

Sky 3D is behind the program which will consist of two 90 minute films due later this year. Atlantic production’s commercial director John Morris has stated, "we’re now filming for the Oculus Rift. So when we filmed our recent flight in Borneo, we filmed with an eight-camera rig, so you got the full 360° experience.” Apparently the company has several Oculus Rift development kits with Morris excited by the fact that there are " no rules yet as to what a non-fiction experience on a totally new creative platform should be". Perhaps a little more cynically he then added he also sees Rift as, “a new platform you can monetize,” and thinks, “we’ll see millions of these things being sold.”
