Japan is famous for its convenience stores. The country is also famous for karaoke parlours. And this month, they're finally coming together. Literally.
On April 17, "Family Mart Plus Karaoke Dam" is opening in front of the south exit at Kamata Station in Tokyo.
According to an official Family Mart press release, visitors can buy snacks at the convenience store and then take those into the "self service" style karaoke boxes.
Traditionally, you are not allowed to bring in outside food and drink into karaoke parlours and need to order food and beverages there. Since ordering food might be slightly more expensive than convenience store food, this might cut down on your booze and snacks bill.
I hope they figure out a way to allow customers to bring karaoke into the convenience store.
